Yep, there were people there! Saturday was crowded as hell, Sunday only slightly less so.

There was plenty of this sort of thing as well…this one’s for Axhead.

Anyway that’s about all I’ve got handy, I had a blast and met some great artists and cool folk and gawked at tons of nerds and sluttily-dressed fangirls and just had a damn good time. Already looking forward to next year.

EVERGREEN STATE FAIR!

So my neighbors and I went to the Evergreen State Fair a couple weekends ago and man it was quite a time. Strap on your jammies, grab some heart-annihilating fair food and check out these photos I took of some of the spectacles!

This hoss really really loved being petted on the snout. He kept sticking it on out like in the photo until he got nose-scritches from a passerby.

The Marilyn Manson of horses. I thought it was some kind of freakish mutation but apparently this is a semi-normal thing? IDK, it was freaky deaky if you ask me.

This lovely lady was hanging out among the infomercials. I think she was spontaneously formed there when all the roofing companies and ring-cleaners and vacuum salesmen got together.

An unspeakably horrifying Michael Jackson effigy they set up at the “Moonwalker”ride. It’s on the outside of the structure and goes up and down as the ride progresses because in real life Michael Jackson could levitate at will.

These were the neighbors I went with! Lookit their smiling faces!

MOTHERFUCKING FAIR FOOD THAT WILL SHIT INTO YOUR VEINS AND TASTE SO GOOD YOU WON’T NOTICE THAT YOU NEED A RASCAL NOW. Luckily they sell those in the infomercial area, so you’re good.

Oh god these baby goats were so damn cute. They went MEH-H-H-H-H and scampered around and went down slides and had curly little ears.

This bunny had a built-in neck pillow. Fucking jealous! I guess if I eat enough fair-food I’ll grow one; I think I saw a few people wandering around who had ‘em.

AND THEN THERE WAS THIS FINE-ASS SPECIMEN. You know she just wanders from fair to fair, stunning the world.

PIGGY RACES! My boy Sloppy Joe took home the glory.

Of course there were the requisite chainsaw-bears in full effect.

I particularly appreciated the thoughtfulness of the ferris wheel maintenance crew for putting a kiddie pool and some buckets underneath to catch all the hydraulic fluid and oil that was leaking out. It’s the little touches that let you know they care!

That monkey has a banana for a penis, is the thing here. I don’t know, I thought it was pretty funny.

Ink on paper…I drew this guy for an art gallery a few years back for the Draw project, where identical pieces of paper are sent out to artists all over the country who are free to create whatever they want on it, however they want, which are then shown at a gallery opening in (I think) Vermont, and auctioned off to support the show and charity. A very fun project…it’s awesome to see what other people come up with for this kind of thing.

White Bear

This was a photo of model White Bear that I took while at a group shoot near Mount Rainier, WA. I loved how she looked against the red cabin with the light casting side-shadows (all natural lighting was used), and on a whim had her hold up a deer skull she had brought along…ended up being probably the best shots I’d taken all day.

I painted this little fella over the course of a month or two, it’s done in oils on canvas. The hat going through the cloud was a pretty late addition to the painting but I think it worked out…the guy’s face creeps me out a little bit, it looks like a cross between Willy Wonka and Harpo Marx to me.

Ahh, frightboy. This was a piece I made for a photoshop contest where the theme was to illustrate a particular emotion…mine was “terror”. The different elements are all from various sources; the boy was originally being dragged to the doctor by his parents, the bed originally had a smiling couple peeking out of it, and the monster is an amalgamation of a spider, a crab and a grizzly bear (the teeth). Pretty creepy!
